Over-the-top adults (parents and coaches) in youth sports is a topic we regularly address at League of Fans.

Australian Open tennis champion Jannik Sinner, during his victory speech, addressed this issue indirectly by thanking his parents for not putting pressure on him as a young athlete and allowing him to play multiple sports:

“I wish that everyone could have my parents because they always let me choose whatever I want to do,” said Sinner.
“Even when I was younger I made (played) some other sports and they never put pressure on myself and I wish that this freedom was possible for as many young kids as possible.”
That was a great message to hear from the Italian superstar, who’s one of the world’s best tennis players and athletes. And one I hope every youth sports parent could hear and take to heart.
